California Culinary Retreats weekends are all inclusive. That means all your meals and drinks, your 4 cooking classes, accommodations, materials, and take home items are included in the price. All you have to do is get yourself to your retreat, and leave the rest to us!
The Weekend in Brief
We are delighted to present our third annual regional Italian cooking weekend. The retreat will revolve around four technique-based hands on cooking classes. We will make fresh pasta, hand rolled gnocchi, and learn the secrets of perfect risotto while staying at the beautiful Ojai property. In addition, we’ll taste olives oils, specialty Italian cheeses and wines, among other things.
All classes will begin with an overview lecture and then move to cooking in the kitchen. We will dine together at beautifully-set tables under the stars, and sit by the outdoor fire pit in the evenings. When you are not cooking you are free to relax, go for a hike, or go into Ojai for a stroll around town - your choice.
The retreat begins on Friday afternoon between 4 - 6pm, and we will conclude our weekend Sunday after a leisurely late lunch.
Class 1: Classic risotto, slow roast salmon with braised fennel and blood orange, vanilla bean panna cotta.
Class 2: Fresh ricotta ravioli, butternut squash brown butter tortellini, roasted pear and arugula salad, tiramisu.
Class 3: White bean bruschetta with grilled radicchio and rosemary, chicken scaloppini, pine nut tarts.
Class 4: Hand rolled gnocchi with bolognaise, winter caprese, rosemary sun-dried tomato focaccia.
The retreat is all-inclusive - including your lodging, classes, all beverages and meals.
This spectacular property has all luxury twin beds, in many different rooms and configurations. Couples, singles and small groups welcome!
